Currently Spring 3.0 is going to ship with JRuby 1.2. However that release of JRuby is almost a year old, and there have been thousands of commits and over a thousand bugs fixed since then, along with numerous performance and memory improvements. JRuby 1.4 should be compatible with JRuby 1.2, so it would be a good idea to update Spring as soon as possible.

Affects: 3.0 RC3

I've raised https://issuetracker.springsource.com/browse/EBR-553 to obtain first an OSGified JRuby 1.4 artifact before doing the upgrade in Spring itself.

We should be osgi-ifying the JRuby jar and "complete" jar files before we release. Is there something more we need to do? We'd be happy to incorporate it into our build, since there are others using JRuby in OSGi settings.

You can take a look at the manifest we added to the JRuby jar in EBR - you can find it here:

Ok, so this is more of a Spring thing that we couldn't really add to our build. No worries! I'm glad to see Spring 3.0 will ship JRuby 1.4!
