As discussed with Luke Taylor, generate a new tool that converts a web.xml file containing security constraints into an Acegi Security application context XML file. Designed to provide a simple migration for people, but with the more advanced features such as remember-me and anonymous authentication enabled by default.

This is an important and useful tool to get in 0.9.0, so it can receive some exposure and testing.

I’ve written this as a web application, with a test version deployed at

http://monkeymachine.co.uk/acegifier/convert.htm

The functionality is limited at the moment. and dom4j is losing my comments in the output. There is a file called test-web.xml in the acegifier module. Pasting the contents of that into the app should produce an app-context file which can be used with the contacts app (filter version).

Luke, is this completed? It seems a pretty good start to me. If so, would you please close this issue. Or, please comment on what’s outstanding so we can either move it to 1.0.0 or wrap it up.

Ok. The app has been running for a while now and we haven’t had any negative feedback, so closing this for version 0.9.0. An expanded version may be introduced later (e.g. with a wizard interface that allows people to select and configure particular features, bastille style).
