Reproduced the issue after updating with conda update spyder (or pip, if not using Anaconda)
Completed the Problem Description, Steps to Reproduce and Version sections below
Problem Description
When a file is edited from somewhere else, if it is saved on spyder the new version is opened automatically and without confirmation and the undo history is cleared.
What steps reproduce the problem?
Create a new python file, edit it and save it.
From somewhere else override the file.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect it to ask for confirmation in order to avoid losing work (even if it is saved).
Versions
Spyder version: 5.5.0
Python version: 3.9.2 64-bit
Qt version: 5.15.2
PyQt version: 5.15.10
Operating System name/version: Linux 6.6.17-01102-gd3cec3c11146 (x86_64)
Hey @The-Arx, thanks for reporting. This feature hasn't not been requested too much by our users, so it's not a priority for us. In addition, we don't have the resources to implement it right now, sorry.
Since this is basically a duplicate of issue #1104, so I'm going to close it in favor of that one. If you want to continue the discussion about this feature, please post your comments there.
