It is difficult to select a requestor when there are a few hundred requestors in the system.

You currently get a simple dropdown that lists all selectors. You may have to scroll few a few hundred names.

We need some kind of auto complete, so you can start typing and a reduced list is displayed to pick from.

This should show not just the user's display name, but also department, location or job title. Just some extra info to reinforce that we are selecting the right person. e.g. You may be talking to Janice on the phone, but is that Janice from Spares or Janice from Marketing? The extra info would reinforce which person you are selecting.
