It's been years since proteus has had any activity. The parent company, source{d}, website https://sourced.tech/ has been down for months and the original authors @Serabe and @erizocosmico no longer work at source{d} according to LinkedIn. The only two people still in the src-d organization are @eiso and @marnovo. Maybe they can give us some clarity.

If I could, I'd pick things up, but unfortunately that isn't possible for me right now. There are a few forks that are ahead and I'm going to list them here to maybe get their attention.

Is anyone willing to pick up this tool and give it the love that it needs?

Forgot to mention @dennwc the most recent maintainer as of a year ago.

The company closed and the projects are no longer under maintenance. Feel free to hard fork it to some other account or organization.

@erizocosmico Thank you for the response.

Proteus is an awesome tool, I'm hoping that someone has the time to care for it.

Is anyone willing to maintain a new fork?

We (Charm) are interested in maintaining a fork.

Unfortunately our roadmap has further development starting in about 6 months when we are planning on moving to Protobuf for our IoT based warehouse management system integration.

It's a public holiday here in Japan at the moment but I'll double check with the team on Monday and of so we'd be happy to manage code reviews, merge requests at least in the short term until we can commence active development ourselves.

I've received the go ahead from the higher ups to adopt this project. I'll get to work on triaging issues and copying them over.

We'll be focusing initially on core features. Including:

  • Support for custom types
  • go generate integration to simplify automated building
  • Speed and reliability in generation

Once that's done we'll get into looking at any issues in RPC. Of course any pull requests are always appreciated!

I'll merge any pending pull requests which can be and then replace our fork with a duplicate.

Moving forward updates can be found at:

@marnovo can we close this issue, please?

Thanks!

Shouldn't this issue have been left open or at least a change to the README be made to direct people towards the charm-jp repo?
