I'll need...

  • A safety fallback and some unit tests to ensure that things don't go wrong if the cached value is stale and the cron-launched process can't successfully launch the user's browser for an update. (ie. It doesn't have DISPLAYset or the user isn't logged in.)
  • A way to force an update to the cached value from a process which is intended to always be able to launch the user's browser.
  • Optionally but ideally, some kind of way for the developer to receive and handle "fallback is receiving extremely stale value" warnings.
