Make Meson module display currently installed version like CMake module does

I work with meson a lot but I have a project that has build files for both CMake and Meson and the discrepancies between the two modules appear odd to me. The meson project version appears under the "package" module, but the meson module is only shown when meson devenv is used. Which for my project isn't really useful (there's no need for the things meson devenv is meant for). Is there a rationale for not making the meson module show the installed version? Most modules work this way after all.
