** 標準時制定

[[標準時]]を進めて約50分の[[時差]]を維持するかの議論となりました。
外郭諸島の保守派議員の反対もあったものの、
[[Tungi]] [[王太子]] (後の [[Taufa'ahau Tupou IV]] [[国王]])
が「[RUBYB[時刻の始まる地]@en[the land where time begins]]」の称号を残すことを望んだため、
[RUBYB[議会]@en[Legislative Assembly]]は[[標準時]]を進めることに決めました。

(削除された部分が[TIME[1988年][year:1988]]版では省略されているのでなければ)
それ以前は[[標準時]]の規定がまったくなかったと思われます。

だとした上で、[[トンガ王国]]で[[夏時間]] [TZ[+13:00]] を実施したり、
[[キリバスの標準時]]改正で [TZ[+14:00]] や [TZ[+15:00]] 
に変更したりすることが検討されていると述べています。 
([[フィジー]]は [TZ[+12:00]] とされており、[[夏時刻]]には言及がありません。)
