[[HTTP]] などで、[[内容折衝]]のために用いられる[[頭欄]]のひとつがこの [DFN[[CODE(HTTP)[Accept:]] 欄]]です。
[CODE(HTTP)[Accept:]] 欄は、[[クライアント]]が[[鯖]]に対して、希望する (あるいは希望しない) [[媒体型]]とその希望度を伝達するために使用します。
[[要求]]された[[資源]]について複数の媒体型を用意している鯖は、 [CODE(HTTP)[Accept:]] 欄の内容を参考にして、クライアントの希望に沿った版を送り返すことができます。
[CODE(HTTP)[Accept:]] 頭欄の内容は、読点で分離した媒体型の零個以上の系列です。
それぞれの媒体型には、優先度を表す引数
[CODE(HTTP)[[[q]]]] を付けることができます。優先度は [CODE(HTTP)[0]] (希望しない) 〜[CODE(HTTP)[1]] (最優先) の、小数点以下最大3桁の数値で指定します。
例:

- [SAMP(HTTP)[Accept: text/html; q=1.0]]
([CODE(HTTP)[q]] の既定値は [CODE(HTTP)[1]] なので、この二例は等価。)
[CODE(HTTP)[Accept:]] [[要求頭欄]]は、ひとつの HTTP 要求メッセージ中に任意個 (零個以上) 入れることができます。複数個存在する場合には、一般の HTTP の頭欄の取扱いの規則により、すべてを[[読点分離]]でひとまとめにしたものと等価として扱います。

の[[状態符号]]の誤り応答を返します。
ただし、鯖は必ずしも [CODE(HTTP)[Accept:]]
頭欄を使った内容折衝に対応しなければならないわけではないので、
[CODE(HTTP)[Accept:]] 欄を無視したり、
[CODE(HTTP)[406]] を返さなかったりしても間違いではありません。

[CODE(HTTP)@en[[[Accept]]]]欄の構文解析を一々するのは面倒なので、適当な[[正規表現]]の[[一致]]で済ませたくなりますが、
できるだけ正確に検査した方が無難です。
特に注意しないといけないのは、[CODE(HTTP)@en[[[q]]='''0''']]の場合があることです。[CODE(HTTP)@en[[[Accept]]]]欄にある[[媒体型]]があったとしても、それが本当に受け入れられるものかどうかは[CODE(HTTP)@en[[[q]]]]をみないとわかりません。
