Arclight Major Features

  • Searching
    • Global search by keyword, name, place, subject or title
    • On search results page, sidebar facets for refining search results by collection, creator, date range, level, name, repository, place, subject, or access
    • On search results page, sorting by relevance, date (ascending or descending), creator (A-Z or Z-A), and title (A-Z or Z-A)
    • On search results page, option to select items per page (default 10, 20, 50 or 100)
    • On search results page, buttons to select full or compact view of results
    • Search within collection
  • Navigation
    • Global access to Repositories and Collections
    • Global access to Start Over and Back to Search (when applicable)
    • Breadcrumb navigation from Home page to the current page
    • Headings with item title and dates, repository, and online content flag
    • Sidebar Navigation overview when viewing collection Overview
    • Bookmarking of component items
    • Global Bookmarks and History link respectively show any bookmarks that are set and a history of recent searches
  • Repositories Page
    • Lists all the repositories available at given institution
    • Shows a title, location, email address, collection count and description for each repository
    • Includes a View more button link that displays more details about the repository's collections
  • Digital object display (integrated into collection and component pages), currently using oEmbed
  • Collection Pages: Overview and Contents Tabs
    • Collection pages have Overview and Contents tabs; Contents shows only when children items are available.
    • On the Overview tab, the collection page displays sections for summary, access and use, background, related, and indexed terms
    • Indexed Terms phrases link to facet searches on those phrases.
    • Sidebar display of Online status, In person location information, Terms & Conditions item restrictions and terms of access, How to cite this collection preferred citation information
    • On the Contents tab, all the collection subitems at the next level can be reviewed. Selecting an item provides a view of that item's metadata. Subitem levels are headings that may display a link on the right side to show
  • Component Pages
    • Navigation to component pages is via search or the Contents tab on collection pages.
    • The component side display is similar to the collection one although the is no sidebar navigation section or search with section
    • Component pages identify their level (e.g., series, file, etc.) in a heading and allow bookmarking with a checkbox in the header
    • These pages also show a Collection Context section with a collection heading and highlighting of the current component below it; several sibling components are also shown if they are present
    • In addition, the component heading in the Collection Context section displays the number of children components directly below the current component.
