Raised by miika http://symphony-cms.com/discuss/thread/87439/, the taglist field's validation setting doesn't seem to be used even though there is an option for it in the section editor.

Ouch, this is a fairly big bug that has not been noticed over 2 years! From what I can tell, going back even to 2.1.2.1 code, this has never been implemented.

Yeah, pretty glaring omission. Will this kick 2.3 final back again or should this go into a minor update post 2.3 final?
