I realise this is a lot to ask and you probably have better things to be doing but I thought I'd throw the idea out there. It would be great if FinderFix or a separate app could fix the size of windows of other apps. For some reason Apple Music often opens maximised to the full 27" display I have which is annoying, Figma for some reason opens almost full size (which I want) but only two thirds of the width. So many apps have weird quirks like this.

Just an idea. Thanks for FinderFix!

Hi Ryan,

Thank you for comforting my intuition that FinderFix's main feature could be extended to other applications. It is indeed already listed on the Roadmap (last item in the Not Planned section):

  • Allow other application windows to be repositioned and resized through FinderFix (e.g. Terminal)

Not Planned, means that I was wondering if FinderFix could encompass other applications or if it would be in a separate application as you said. I could maybe call it FixAnyapp. 😄

I am keeping this on my radar for future development.

I'd add my two cents to this thread, with a suggestion that might also apply to my earlier feature request: what about multiple-monitor setups? This would be an absolute life-saver for people with such setups, as Apple seems to have really screwed the pooch when it comes to those.

Music.app, in particular, is one of the worst offenders in my system. Other apps, even first-party ones such as Mail.app, do respect my preferences and open on the proper monitor, but not that particular one (or not all of its windows, that is); I tend to like having its main window set to fullscreen on my secondary monitor, and the Mini Player open and set to appear on all Desktops/Spaces and positioned also on the secondary monitor. Except the stupid Mini Player always opens on my primary monitor after each and every reboot and waking up from sleep, no matter what. It's infuriating, really…

Oh, but wait, there's more (and that's where you definitely have to come in if Apple doesn't)! Not only is it repositioned… it's also shrunk vertically, and even resists my first attempt to resize it back to full height. 🤦‍♂️🤬 I can't, for the life of me, understand why macOS does that to it in the first place or doesn't restore it to its proper size and, to add insult to injury, even offers resistance. Maybe it has got something to do with Music.app (i.e. gimped iTunes in a trench coat) still having bits of Carbon in it, or due to my screens not being Apple-branded and their resolution not being properly detected upon waking from sleep, or whatever, but I'm figuring that “FixAnyApp” with multi-monitor support could likely fix what Apple and other third party developers won't bother with.

You can use Yabai for that
