unable to locate the package #34

Hello,
I'm a newbie. I followed the installation tutorial and when I apply this command "sudo apt install t2-kernel-script" I get an error: "E: unable to locate the package t2-kernel-script"
Can you help me to solve this problem?

Thank you for your reply.
I ran sudo apt install curl and that seems to have fixed the problem.
The installation did not fail. I selected "Try Ubuntu" to enter a live session. I launched the Ubuntu installer via terminal with the command ubiquity -b. the installer don't try to install the GRUB boot manager.

Did you run

curl -s --compressed "https://adityagarg8.github.io/t2-ubuntu-repo/KEY.gpg" | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/t2-ubuntu-repo.gpg >/dev/null
sudo curl -s --compressed -o /etc/apt/sources.list.d/t2.list "https://adityagarg8.github.io/t2-ubuntu-repo/t2.list"
sudo apt update

Before running sudo apt install t2-kernel-script

Can you share cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/t2.list. Also, which ISO did you use to install Ubuntu?

Hello,

ISO used is Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS desktop amd64.
For info, I did not install GRUB but rEFInd for the boot.

Looks like you used the official ISO instead of the modified one provided by us. The official one probably does not have curl installed. sudo apt install curl, try running this first and then try adding the apt repo again using the steps you followed earlier.

Also your installation probably must have failed in between, so I'll suggest you to reinstall as the system's gonna be horribly bad due to incomplete installation. You can try using the modified ISO or if you wanna use the official one, then add efi=noruntine to the kernel command line before booting the ISO.

You also can try Ubuntu 22.10 as that one does not have the installation failed error, both in the official one as well the the modified one, thus does not need efi=noruntime. Also, sound is better supported in Ubuntu 22.10

I see that guide is quite outdated since we have got significant progress with Linux on T2 Macs now. The error I mentioned is there in Ubuntu 22.04 and NOT Ubuntu 22.10. Also, when Ubuntu 22.04.2 shall be released (in February), then the error shall be fixed in that as well.

Anyways, if you are fine with your installation, then it’s ok 👍
