Highlight.js / PureBASIC Fork

HLJS v9.12.0 (2017/05/31)
HLJS-PB Mod v9.12.0a
PureBASIC 5.00–5.60
Branch Update: Oct 1, 2018

This branch is a fork of highlight.js with some differences in the way PureBASIC syntax is rendered.

Furthermore, in /pb-prebuilt/ you'll find some pre-built HLJS packages, with PureBASIC (modded) syntax being the central language in all of them.

For detailed info on the PureBASIC modded syntax differences, and on the prebuilt packages, read /pb-prebuilt/README.md.

Table of Contents

Difference from Official HLJS

This branch is a fork of highlight.js with some differences in the PureBASIC syntax file:

  • I've added in the purebasic.js code the "function_call" class, to catch Procedure calls — as is customary with PureBASIC IDE syntax coloring — which didn't make it into the official package because highlight.js doesn't provide classes for function calls.

  • Also, the purebasic.css file was changed to focus on highilighting PureBASIC syntax only, as well as incorporating the "function_call" class.

Here you'll also find some pre-built highlight.js packages, with a combination of different language syntaxes chosen for common work scenarios.

Pre-Built Packages

In the /pb-prebuilt/ folder you'll find some pre-built HLJS packages, with PureBASIC (modded) syntax being the central language in all of them.

Additional Files And Folders

The PureBASIC branch adds some folders and files to highlight.js master branch.

PureBASIC Archives Build

These are some pre-built HLJS packages (with modded PureBASIC syntax) which I use for the PureBASIC Archives project.

To update the folder contents, execute this batch:

Bundled languages in the package:

  • PureBASIC (modded)
  • Fasm
  • Bash
  • Dos
  • ini
  • Markdown
  • XML
  • CSS
  • YAML

Pre-built PureBASIC HLJS Bundles

Some pre-built HLJS packages (with modded PureBASIC syntax) and stylesheets with multi-language themes:

  • /pb-prebuilt/:
    • /hljs-pb-only/ – HLJS + CSS with only PureBASIC syntax and theme.
    • /hljs-pb-dev1/ – HLJS + CSS with PureBASIC plus some common syntaxes and themes related to PB developement.
    • /hljs-pb-dev2/ – Additional syntaxes on top of the previous package.
    • /hljs-all/ – HLJS + CSS with all available Highlight.js syntaxes and all of the above themes.
    • /css/ – The language-specific themes in individual CSS stylesheet – which are used for creating the final packages's stylesheet.
    • /resources/ – Resources for HTML documents (CSS, images, etc.).

If you need to update the folder contents (HLJS bundles and all), execute this batch:

  • pb-prebuild.bat

The batch script that auto-magically creates the pre-built packages. Requires the following apps:

The sources used to build the contents are in this folder:

It contains scripts and resources required during the creation of pre-built packages, their stylesheets and example files.

Highlight.js version number and the dates in the example pages are controlled via environment variables set in this file:

So, editing them in this file will update the values in all the required places.

Revision Numbering Scheme

HLJS-PureBASIC Mod versioning scheme follows the version number of the official HLJS release which merges in, plus a letter to indicate revisions within the same HLJS release span. Examples:

  1. HJLS-PB v9.8.0a – 1st HLJS-PB release built on top of HLJS v9.8.0.
  2. HJLS-PB v9.8.0b – 2nd HLJS-PB release built on top of HLJS v9.8.0.
  3. HJLS-PB v9.9.0a – 1st HLJS-PB release built on top of HLJS v9.9.0.
  4. and so on…

Branch History

  • 2018/10/01 – (HJLS-PB v9.12.0a)
    • Pandoc v2 + PP — Updated all script to use new pandoc 2 version, in conjuction with PP preprocessor.
    • Env Vars changes — Renamed the env vars used to track HLJS version and date, and added new ones. Now PP is used to inject them in markdown documents too, via scripts (no manual changes needed).
    • stop using gfmtoc to update Table of Contents, use Sublime Text's MarkdownTOC instead.
    • stop using pandoc to cleanup markdown source files; this creates problems with PP now.
  • 2017/05/12 – (HJLS-PB v9.11.0b)
    • BUG-FIX: Some keywords were accidentally joyned together. Now fixed.
  • 2017/04/30 – (HJLS-PB v9.11.0)
    • Updated PureBASIC syntax definition to v5.60 (fixes missing keywords in the previous version).
