thanks to Altemirabelle in this thread on hackintosh-forum.de for figuring this out! In the ACPI section. enable the indicated checkmarks (SlpSmiAtWake, SuspendOverride, Halt Enabler), save, reboot - sporadic black screen on wake from sleep will hopefully be a matter of the past
