We have a little area we've taken to calling the courtyard. We could be doing some entertaining out there if we had lighting. The lighting would also be super helpful for when I'm grilling out there.

I have been thinking about something like this, seen at Tybee Island Social Club:

I've seen them elsewhere, like at Bowtie BBQ. Yesterday at The Home Depot I spotted what looks pretty similar. Apparently they are called Cafe Lights:

There are also a color changing variation of them, which has a remote:

It looks like the remote is RF, so it should be possible to control with a Broadlink.

Rough sketch of stuff to do:

  • take measurements of the distance between kitchen roof & cottage roof to get idea of how much is needed
  • research how to mount them
  • find them on sale
  • mount them
  • configure broadlink to control

These are available on Amazon too, thought it was just a Home Depot thing. I setup a camelcamelcamel tracker

I did get these over the summer and now they are installed. I tried using the broadlink, but the lights must be too far from the broadlink to work.
