lexic-format-failure: fails on Japanese dictionary

I have jmdict2 from: http://download.huzheng.org/ja/

Normally when sdcv doesn't find an exact match it gives some suggestions back. lexic handles English dictionaries fine (the suggestions show up in the lexic buffer. But for my Japanese dictionary all I get is this:

Found 10 entries, similar to きりかう.
