What the Tent team were trying to create seems to be provided these days by a few different protocols; notably the Diaspora project's bespoke protocol and ActivityPub, both derived in some ways from OStatus, and Zot, which was developed for the Hubzilla project. If the Tent team have abandoned the project, if they could clear their desks, and leave the building (put up a farewell blog post on their website etc), it would reduce the confusing noise in the federated social media space somewhat.
