The comment begin detection is supposed to take a # at the beginning of a line, or with only whitespace before it on a line

However, it detects a # anywhere on a line and styles it as a comment.
Example:

It gets worse if line contains a hash within braces, the closing brace is "lost" and the brace colouring from that point onwards changes to one level deeper.
