Hi,

Did you planned some compatibility adjustments ?
Your plug-in was awesome, I can't find any alternative.

Regards,
Alain.

both Chrome and Firefox banned direct access to filesystem,
Is that an agent for file access on your computer acceptable?

While is was a convenient way to switch between production and staging by just a click in Firefox, the installation of a dedicated software would be borderline at least for me.

Is there a generic agent planned? I heard of multiple other plugins suffering from the same limitation. So there might be a way to provide a file-system API to plugins which could implement some security measures like white-listing to counter the security risk it would pose.
https://tiddlywiki.com/ lists some of the alternative ways they use to access files. But in general they have a similar problem with file-system access.

In case it does not happen: Can you write some notes regarding the issue prominently in the README? Firefox ESR continues to work and might be an option for some.

Is manual DNS flushing still required? This was one of the main points why I started using it.

In any case: Thank you for providing the handy tool. We enjoyed the time.

I really miss this addon in Firefox Quantum :(

@tg123 Have you considered using Native Messaging to access the file?

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/WebExtensions/Native_messaging

It looks like the actual application would have to be installed separately, but since this is a technical tool it'd be acceptable. If it is a (shell) script we can even look in the file and see it is safe (and won't auto-update either).

You could define a simple CLI interface so we can create scripts and manifests for various operating systems.

I hope you will find the time and the way to fix the plugin since it was one of the most useful tools for me.

Danijel.

restriction of filesystem is not the only problem. there is no alternative to refresh the dns cache since FX57+ as well.
