10th Book Dash Celebration video - Nov 2023

The Turing Way Book Dash will hit their 10th edition this coming Nov 2023. As a way to celebrate it we would like to make a short video highlighting the following:

• Why 'Book Dash'? (a question for the Book Dash creators)
• Memory statements (overall community)
• Main learnings from the Book Dash (overall community)
• What you liked about it (overall community)
• Fun facts (overall community)

How can you be part of this video?

If you have attended a Book Dash in the past, you can contribute:

• Record a short video (max 30 seconds) answering one or more of the questions below. You can record yourself on zoom or your phone (horizontal view). Preferably on your phone as it has better quality.
• Share your written answer and upload it to the folder mentioned below
• On Friday 10 November, from 10:00 - 12:00, the video organisers will be available by zoom to record anyone interested in participating. (Add Zoom link)

How to start your video?

Below you can find a guide of what to include in your video. You don't need to follow this order but it might help you to start.

• Your name
• When did you join the Book Dash?
• Did you join in-person or online? From where?
• What do you like about it?
• What makes the Book Dash special?
• What did you learn in the Book Dash?
• Do you have fun memories about the Book Dash?
• If you could define the Book Dash in one word, what would it be?

Storyboard:

• The Turing Way Logo
• A little history of why the Book Dash and how does it feel to organise the 10th edition --- > did you imagined it was to go this far (Kirstie and first organisers)
• Compilation of videos from the community (ask who would like to participate)
• Compilation of quotes from previous attendees that don't want to send the video but would like to share a message
• Photos from previous Book Dashes (check if we have consent)
• Credits (all Book Dash attendees)
• Video tone of voice: not formal, playful and welcoming

Next Steps:

• open an issue to get reviews about the process
• add more ideas about what should be included
• confirm if the 10 November is a good day to record people that would like to be recorded
• send a message on the community Slack channel, asking for contributions.
• do we need written consent?
• Agree on a deadline to receive the videos / quotes
• Who could edit it? Add subtitles
• Release day, 17 November? it is enough time to edit?
