About QuickSearch

QuickSearch is Magic Search's highlight feature that makes searching over a dozen different web sources instantaneously quick and easy, by using keywords in front of your search queries.

Instead of nagivating to a website like Google Images, Wolfram Alpha, or YouTube, you can search directly with the Chrome Omnibar or Google's search bar the phrase "keyword: your query words" where the keyword matches the website you're searching.

Sounds confusing? Here are some examples. With QS enabled in the options, type these into your omnibar or search bar.

dogs (just a simple Google web search)

img: cats (searches Google Images for "cats")

image: cats (same thing)

news: elections (searches Google News for "elections")

pdf: psychology (only Google searches for PDF documents)

ppt: psychology (only for Microsoft PowerPoint documents

tl: Guten Tag or translate: Guten Tag (translates to your native language from a detected language

lucky: Weather (I'm Feeling Lucky: takes you to the first hit in search results)

And here are the rest of the supported QuickSearch search sources...

vid (Google Videos)

book (Google Books)

yt (YouTube)

sch (Google Scholar / papers)

wiki (Search Wikipedia directly)

amz (Amazon Shopping)

map or maps (Google Maps search for directions or locations)

verbatim or v (Google web search for your query word-for-word, with no synonyms)

flickr (Flickr, duh)

wa (Wolfram|Alpha)

quote or quotes (BrainyQuote quotations database)

urban (Urban Dictionary)
