add another vote to allowing args/kwargs. because you cant add extra parameters to the app.get() / router.get() (all methods) you cant do something like having a custom route_class that impliments
and usage
you can however ditch the app.method stuff and go for your own (but this would involve having a function for all methods)
but i feel this is just hack for something obvious like adding in a please please please consider this |

I don’t think even this will ever happen. FastAPI, and other web frameworks, are significantly lacking compared to for example aspnet core or java equivalents. The more I use it the less I want to outside of MVP or a very thin wrapper around some hard core python number crunching (ml) The dependency injection system, which is an insult to IoC, is absolutely whack. The routing gets incredibly illegible very quickly more so if you try adding openapi metadata. Anything more complicated than CRUD just don’t bother, but I guess that was the point of this project to begin with. Then again Python is a scripting language, not an application programming language. Wrong tool for the job? |

How come there is no way to pass any extra data down through the route decorators to a custom route class.
This seems like a small addition for what could be a very useful feature? Is there a reason this has not been done.
Storing this in, say, a
route_extra
dict would allow you to do something likeif router.routes[0].route_extra.get("some_extra_info") == 1: ...
The only way to do this currently is to duplicate (since these classes are rather inextensible by nature)
APIRouter
andAPIRoute
.The change would be rather trivial, of only adding a **kwds parameter to each of the decorators and appropriate methods, and add to the APIRoute class a new public property called extra_data which receives this.
