Desirable for all columns, including the text ones.

Жидкие - это имеется в виду - имеющие возможность регулировать ширину столбца вручную?

There is a jQuery method .resizable() applicable to almost any element. However... we can't simply "turn it on" because it will break many things. So we need to do this carefully, i.e. fully understanding how to avoid the breakage.
