Hyper becomes unresponsive when adding a webpage to the layout #23
Comments
I'm trying to reproduce this bug on macOS, but not sure if I get the same result as you. Hyper seems to freeze, but it goes back to normal after a few seconds. It feels like it's related to the Javascript loading inside the webpage. Tried the same with a page that doesn't use JS, and it seems to work just fine. Could you try this as well? (Used my personal page for testing, https://timo.sh, just in case you don't have a JS-less page in mind) Edit: Just noticed my page does use JS (for Google Analytics only though), but it still seems kind of related. |
Just tried with your page and it's the same result. Key presses are delayed 2-10 seconds in the other instances and continue in that state. Let me know if there's anything I can log or record to help with this. |
Glad you enjoy using it :) You can try the following things:

If it's the same – do you think this issue is even related to hyperlayout? I can imagine that this is a problem with Hyper itself. |
That sounds very probable, but I can't think of any use case in Hyper where this would be an issue, other than using Hyperlayout. How can I test that? |
Actually I can see som 'strangeness' going on when I open a page in another tab (no problems in a different window). The 'non-webpage' |
Ok, I tried the following: Create multiple panes manually at first, and then open a webpage in one of them. The input was indeed slowed down in all other panes. So I guess it's really a Hyper issue, but hyperlayout is just making it more noticeable. |
Ok, makes sense. So, can you open an issue with Hyper, or should I? |
I think it would make more sense for you, since I'm not really using webpages inside Hyper 😉 Thanks for reporting this here, anyways! |
Well, you DO have a webpage included in your advanced example on npm ;) But, I'm happy to open the issue. Thanks for being so responsive! |
Awesome, thank you! |
Ubuntu 16.04, Hyper 1.0.0.
This works fine:
But when putting a webpage in the layout, all instances (except the webpage - which works fine) becomes unusable.
