MAX_EXTENSION_SIZE: TBD

Without getting into how people could support the proposal with this TBD, I did have some thoughts about a more general way of setting the extension size.

It seems with segwit if in the future the main chain was raised then the signature space can grow also. Why do we need to define a MAX_EXTENSION_SIZE (lets face it, we've seen how MAX_ANYTHING can cause problems down the line) if we could similarly have a ratio of extensionspace/mainspace?

That means if other proposals grow the mainspace somehow, extension blocks automatically grow with it?
