@techtonik I do not understand what you mean. Could you please explain the problem in more detail?

tox -e py Working despite not being listed?

I understand that if I have If I create a minimal setup.py and an empty tox.ini I get python as output of tox -l - I also understand that I can use py although it is not listed - I can also use py27 and py34 - they are not listed either. Should they also be listed? Or should we think about what should actually be listed on invocation of -l/--listenvs? There is a proposal to list all defined environments already in #271. So I guess we can close this and move the discussion there?

You've got everything right. The issue is that people still need to read RTFM to use tox conveniently and to understand what existing tox invocations mean.

@techtonik o.k. let's move this discussion then to #271 and see what we can do about making tox more intuitive - closing this one then :)
