I'm attempting to take this on since it's marked as a "good first issue" before I move on to Fireflyiii. Do we have any other apps that use an external DB connection that I could look at for an example? I don't see any charts for an databases which I know are coming at a later date.

Quick update. I've decided to work on Fireflyiii first. If I'm able to get fireflyiii finished I may come and get this but as of now don't wait for me if anyone else would like to work on this.
