why change my custom domain

I have set a custom domain for my gh pages.
BUT every time I run npm run deploy, the gh page repo's domain is set back to default
Is there any way to avoid this, otherwise I have to stop to use this package, for I want to keep my custom domain

I solved this problem by putting CNAME inside public folder.

I had the same problem and I'm using webpack so I used the very handy https://github.com/lozinsky/cname-webpack-plugin.
Would be nice as a feature in gh-pages at some point possibly.
