request: make the search query easier to write

The search method on managers takes a query parameter. Currently, the user has to learn how to create these raw queries on their own. The way these these raw queries need to be written are user-unfriendly and prone to mistakes. There should be a way for the user to define what they want in the search result and then the lib should convert it into a raw query that will be sent to the API. We can keep the option to pass the raw query directly too.
