Atualmente o controle da versão é feito pelo setup.py, mas é difícil caso seja necessário referenciar essa versão em outros lugares (por exemplo na documentação). Não sei qual o melhor jeito de ter um único lugar que tem a versão definitiva de onde todos os outros podem referenciar. Alguém manja disso?

Esse pacote pode ser útil: pbr
