Nominatim (at least, as used in the "Download/ areas around places" dialogue in JOSM) accepts coordinates in the format "52.55887, 1.57237". It would be good if it also understood other common formats, such as "52.55887°N 1.57237°E", for convenience when copying and pasting them from elsewhere, please.

JOSM ticket 9493 https://josm.openstreetmap.de/ticket/9493 was closed and referred to Nominatim.
