I think this "working-mode" thing refers to ideas around MiMa being an actual migration manager and being like some kind of companion app or something.

Indeed, this very much relates to your recent tweets hinting that MiMa could do more for Scala users than just checking for binary incompatibilities as defined by the Java spec (#34 is even more closely related)
It would be useful if MiMa could have a working mode for checking correct deprecation cycle between two library versions.
In its simplest form, it should report a warning when an API method that was not marked as deprecated is removed.
