When I place a footnote on a bracketed block (e.g. [Textblock][^Footnote]), then in the editor it will be displayed like linked text. I use this e.g. in conjunction with citations (e.g. [@ExtRef][^Footnote]), which looks like a link and doesn't reference the footnote in the editor, but exports fine when I pass the file to pandoc.
