It looks like this app is getting gtk2 theme style, which application is that?

Franz. They prbly didn't merge latest electron yet.

since, as far as I know, there is not way to set a backdrop color for gtk2 widgets.

Other than the application name, would be helpful to provide it's version and souce of installation (like, deb, snap, or other)

Closing this since I installed the same application (Franz) and it uses GTK2
