Right now there are only symbols in the Elastic Search index. We need to add projects, systems and packages as a separate objects and show them as different types on search results page.
Also, a typeahead widget should be used to show the top of projects or systems matched to the query.
I just tried the search. I was hoping to compare what projects are in Quicklisp vs Ultralisp. I couldn't find a way to get results that only show systems; it seems to only want to show symbols within systems? For example, if I search for "json" I'd like to get a list of systems like
hankhero/cl-json - description
com.inue.whatever/jzon - description
...
Is this currently possible? (It would also help to have a description of the available search operators like system: and package:. Are there others?)
Somehow I missed the main point of this bug, so please ignore the noise. (Except that I do think it would be nice to have some explanation of how search works and what search operators are available. (Unless I missed that also.))
@cgay what you are writing is correct, but it is a big epic, because right now search works only for searching the symbols.
It would be cool to have separate search for projects, asdf systems and packages too.
However as I said, this is a big deal and will require to rethink the search UI/UX. It would be cool if somebody will help with that – I'll be happy to accept any help because have no much free time these days.
