Requirements

Python>=3.7.0 with all requirements.txt installed including PyTorch>=1.7. To get started:

git clone https://github.com/ultralytics/yolov5  # clone
cd yolov5
pip install -r requirements.txt  # install

Environments

YOLOv5 may be run in any of the following up-to-date verified environments (with all dependencies including CUDA/CUDNN, Python and PyTorch preinstalled):

Status

YOLOv5 CI

If this badge is green, all YOLOv5 GitHub Actions Continuous Integration (CI) tests are currently passing. CI tests verify correct operation of YOLOv5 training, validation, inference, export and benchmarks on MacOS, Windows, and Ubuntu every 24 hours and on every commit.

@yanni1995 add images without labels to your dataset. These will be used as background images automatically.

need an empty txt file or no txt file

I did the exact same things. 90% of my dataset are background images without labels. It looks that too many background images will decrease detection sensitivity based on my preliminary observation. I am still working on it.

Do we need to add a name/label in the config/YAML file?

E.g.,:

names:
  0: cats
  1: dogs
  2: mice
  3: background

@Rich2020 no, you just add any background images you want to your dataset by placing them in the same directory as your training images. You'll see the extra images shown in the train/val set stats when training starts. No other changes necessary.
