I have a 80GB PS3 and ever since the new service agreement with Sony Network (basically Sony hijacks your machine till you agree to their terms) I have been receiving DLNA error 2114. UMS icon shows up onscreen but when selected, the error flashes twice. PS3 Media server was also not working but an update fixed that a few days after the agreement, unfortunately its been well over a year that PS3 Media server still does not support/playback Flac/Hi Res audio files. I was using UMS for Flac playback for a longtime as it played the files, but with the error 2114 I no longer can playback anything but mp3's via PS3 media server. Is there anyway we can get flac, aiff, apple lossless... hi res audio playback with UMS on the PS3? Ironically I used to use my PS3 to playback everything (as it was the "can do everything machine") for many years before, now there seems to be more and more problems. Would be great to have an Audiophile Media Streaming app, that was dedicated to playing uncompressed music and music only.

DeFlanco.

My router is Verizon Actiontec GT7... only few months old, but I doubt its the router since it was running fine on the same router. Thanks for the links DeFlanco I appreciate your help, but they are very dated so I am not sure the information is relevant to my situation.

Thanks

Have you tried taking the Vender Router out of the Equation?

Do you have a Cisco router to connect your "Server" and "Renderer" to only?

I know that a lot of ISP's restrict the configurations of Routers and some might prevent the passing info of UPnP and other lovely network features.

I found some more material to consider: (if this is your Verizon router...)

It will not connect unless I use the router, I do not have a Cisco router. I'm quite sure it's not the router as I just tested the PS3 Media server app and it works fine. I believe the last update/service agreement from Sony for PS3 changed to disable the UMS from streaming content, since it happened right after the service agreement, I also think I remember reading that Sony forbids the use of 3rd party devices and etc (or else I could not sign in to PSN)..hence why it allows the PS3 version to work fine. So I am not sure at this point what is causing this. At this point I feel like it's out of my hands since my router is fine, my setup is entirely wired and was working fine up til that point, Sony says its an isolated incident, I am pretty sure I am not the only one going through this. Thanks again for your help. I plan on getting a WD Live streaming unit which plays all types of files from anything natively without the need of a computer or network.

@montokboy Can you please upload a file that doesn't work for you so I can test it? I just tested some MP3s, M4As and FLAC files and all worked fine for me

Subjunk,
My issue is PS3 gets a DLNA 2114 error (flashes twice) when I try to click on the UMS icon. PMS is the one I have difficulty in playing back flacs, the media in the folder shows up with a "?" with title Unsupported Format. I can upload a flac file, I just made a folder with aiff, wav, and flac of same audio file and PS3 media server only recognized the wav file. I was using UMS for all my Flac playback til the recent change. Where should I upload it to? it's only image files under 5mb, this thing is 34mb

Oh I see. I've created a new issue for the DLNA 2114 error at #204
Can you please generate debug information and upload it somewhere after reproducing the bug? Instructions are at http://www.universalmediaserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=556
