Describe the issue
I downloaded and installed the pre-configured Ubuntu 14.01 install from the UTM Gallery (https://mac.getutm.app/gallery/ubuntu-14-04) on my MacBook Pro. The VM successfully launched after 2-3 minutes of loading and once on the desktop, the OS was extremely slow to respond and acted noticeably sluggish. Even after I shut down the VM and increased the memory and CPU Cores, the VM's lag remained. I am unsure if the lag was due to that instance of Ubuntu not including Rosetta or what, but I decided to remove the VM from my UTM and try another version of Linux. Regrettably, I did not think to pull the logs of config file before removing the VM so I am unable to provide those. (If needed, I can attempt to recreate the problem and pull those logs)

Configuration

  • UTM Version: 4.4.5 (94)
  • macOS Version: Sonoma 14.4 (23E214)
  • Mac Chip (Intel, M1, ...): Apple M1 Pro

Yes, this is expected because you are emulating an entire computer.
