Update go version and make release

There are some features in go1.16, that would improve things.

• Can't install the command on mac #55
• Replace embed_assets with go:embed #59

Suggest going with go1.17 as a reasonable minimum version...

@vakenbolt Looking for a new maintainer, I guess ?
