Feature Version 2.3.0 #217
Comments
Hi, Is it too soon to request more features in 2.3.0? :) If it's not I wish to have a CSS editor in v2.3 something to support tab spacing, line numbers, and syntax highlighting... If it's ok with you, I'll start working on it Cheers, |
Not too early at all. The sooner we plan the faster we can execute. I'll add it to the list above now. |
Then I'd suggest this super code editor: http://ace.c9.io/ |
Another idea, would it be useful if we add the import/export theme options into the options panel instead of only on the OT pages? |
About the theme options, I'm the number 1 fan of this change. It's much easier for users to make backups inside the theme options... |
Maybe not the right place to request this, but could we have the theme mode installation instructions in the readme. At the moment I have to install the plugin the usual way to access the documentation, then uninstall/move the files and finally edit functions.php. If the instructions were elsewhere I could install the files directly into my theme straight away. |
@sparkdevelopment That's a very good point! |
@maimairel Import/export of theme options would be nice indeed. One minor thing I'd suggest is this: http://i.imgur.com/acJN2A5.png - as I have people thinking the version number shown there is the theme version. Possibly float the theme name/version to the far right side instead. |
@AlxMedia You can already export and import settings. As well, you can hide the parts of OT you don't want the user to have access to, like the UI Builder, but still allow support for importing and exporting. I can tell you guys right now I do not plan on adding import/export to the theme options panel. However, I'm certainly open to allowing it to be moved around or something along those lines. I don't think it should be part of the theme options because it's not a theme option. |
In all honesty though, I would like to do away with all the old base64 & XML import/export functionality and completely rewrite it using eXtended RSS or JSON. The issue is that every time I change anything in the core and don't support the legacy code I get a bunch of hate mail or have to field a ton of support questions for other developers themes. Trying to progress forward has its challenges. In a perfect world I would have links under the Appearances tab where you could do all the settings, layouts, import, and export stuff and each theme was capable of having different values saved, then switching between themes would be a much better experience. |
Gotcha. |
Hey Guys, I'm moving up the release of this version to next week and also putting a few of the outstanding issues into the 2.4.0 release. There are too many new awesome features in 2.3.0 that should be available right now (UI Update) that it's best to get them out and not be delayed by adding Customizer support. However, in 2.4.0 the main feature will be focusing on the Customizer and adding a few new option types. Please everyone do test compatibility of 2.3.0 with your themes before this weekend as that's your last chance to get them fixed before it goes live on Monday. Thank you everyone for contributing! |
Looks badass. Fantastic work as usual! Love all the polish on active-states and small pixel lines etc. So pretty. |
Hey Guys, I've added support for I18n text domains in the exported @AlxMedia Thanks! |
It's official! Version 2.3.0 is in beta and goes live on Monday along with the new demo OptionTree Theme. Thank you everybody for contributing! |
