Once we merge #115 I would like to invite @ChristianSi to collaboration. Please check out book he wrote available at http://peerconomy.org/wiki/Main_Page His ideas have evolved since then but I still find it very inspiring read.

In #120 I mentioned http://liquidfeedback.org it looks that now Christian works on https://liqd.net/en/

That would be wonderful! I just started reading the book, it's right up our alley. @fosterlynn and I are really concerned about production and distribution of goods in a peer economy, and it looks like Christian discusses that quite a lot.

This (peer economy) is close to what I had in mind in this comment about the reciprocal responsibilities of bus riders for the bus service. Let's start thinking of value flows as if in a different economic system, one based as much as possible on balanced flows of use value, with as little exchange value as possible. I think it will help to eliminate a lot of implicit and explicit dependencies on capitalist commodity exchange, and clean up some of the language.

I think @ChristianSi could help us do that.

Both the weighted labor model and these flexible allocation models ensure that everybody’s preferences have free play. Nobody is forced to do a task they do not really want to do or to live in conditions they don’t really like. You will hardly be able to get everything for free (as in free beer), since even projects choosing the flat rate model will probably have to ask for contributions to distribute the required effort. But with task weighting and preference weighting, you can freely choose whether you prefer more luxury (and of which kinds) or more laziness; whether you prefer spending more time doing the things you want to do, or working for the things you want to have; or whether you prefer living in a simple style or doing some „quick-and-dirty“ tasks so you can spend most of your time in wholly other ways.

@elf-pavlik: Thank you for including me in this topic. Clearly, there are close associations between peer economy-based approaches and timebanking principles that I would like to explore with you, @bhaugen, @fosterlynn, @ChristianSi, and whomever else would be interested to weigh-in. I don't know the protocols, though. Is #121 the proper "issue" in which to pursue such a discussion or should I stick with #143, or start a new one? Thanks in advance for your "coaching"!

@ChristianSi what's chances of your participation in some discussions of your book, here or elsewhere?

@elf-pavlik do you know him well enough to ask more effectively than this ping in an obscure github issue?

@bhaugen Obscure or not, I can surely get involved if you have specific questions / points for discussion :) Just don't expect me to reply quickly.

Offline meetings are also possible, usually in Berlin.

Thanks for responding. We'll work up something that we hope you would find interesting and would not require a quick reply.

Short version: we have done some thinking about how the value flows vocabulary and protocols would work in an economy something like that described in your book. It's not a major focus right now, but we have discussed it a couple of times, and would make it a priority to work on it more if and when it might fit into your schedule. Imagining working in a different economic system helps keep the vocabulary out of "ownership" and other legal ruts.
