Thank you to the developer. This is indeed an excellent library for MySQL development. However, I noticed that there's no information about connecting through an SSH tunnel. Does it support SSH tunneling, or am I overlooking something?

This is not possible with the current version of MySQLNIO. It will be possible when the in-progress rewrite/upgrade of the package is completed. This branch is tracking the rewrite, although at the time of this writing there is not yet a PR, and unfortunately I also don't have a solid ETA.

(N.B.: This is technically a duplicate of #76, but as it describes a more specific use case, I'm leaving it open to track the feature.)
