I have no Problems, its better to write your Android Version in combine with your Phone Model.... So the Devs could help you and try to make the Rage Shake so there will send a log to the Devs....

Ok I correct my last Answer

I can't playback Videos since some updates but Web UI works fine here 🙄

Screenshot_20210222_045244_im.vector.app.jpg

I reauth and cleaned Cache without success😔

I use the last Master/Develop of Synapse and Element Android as own fork...

My Device is Huawei Mate 20 lite (Android 10)

Good 2 know:
Ok if I swipe left/right so the Playback will start, I have no idea whats wrong but seems not a Homeserver issue, a Mate use a older Version and means all works....

I have the exact same issue. On the server, I use synapse 1.28, and the latest Android version of Element on Android 9 (on both Samsung S8, and Nokia 8)

I'm facing this issue as well on my mobile phone (Android 10) and tablet (Android 9).

The play button does nothing but if I swipe left/right or rotate the screen landscape/portrait the video starts to play just fine. The video playback has been working just fine on both devices earlier.

I'm using Synapse 1.24.0-1~bpo10+1 and Element version is: 1.1.0 [40101002] (G-b1380)

The "old error" is back in 1.1.0 -> using matrix synapse 1.28.0
First i was not able to upload files, that has been corrected by setting client_max_body_size 0; to my proxy.

But never the less videos can't playback in Android -> loading file ... black screen with play button ... pressing play ..... nothing happen .... screen stays black.
Same file under element desktop 1.7.22 no problems

I think it's several versions ago that we already had this video playback error ...

No Error Messages from the client so far - so don't know what to do to solve this.

Also sended the video to my iOS client 1.2.5 - no problems playing the video so far.

So problem must be an android one itself

Same issue here. Video works on Element web but black screen on Element android. My phone is Huawei Mate Pro 20 with android 10. It also works after screen rotation for me but the sound comes out of the speaker instead of the connected bluetooth headset.

Same issue on my friends Samsung Galaxy S8.

Both using standard Matrix-server.

Seems like this is due to be fixed in about a week:

"Due by March 24, 2021 25% complete"
We'll see...
