According to the first observation, this corruption concerns the last state events of the room. It may appear after a full initial sync.
The membership state of the room members may be corrupted whereas the room history is right. The corruption is visible in the displayed members list: some joined members are marked as invited, some avatar changes are ignored.

The issue is located in the handling of the room state.

I don't know yet if this kind of corruption may explain some left (empty) rooms stuck in the room list.

I confirm "Empty room is stuck in my room list" is due to the same reason.

Fix is in progress
