If a Vega-Lite specification has only one layer, providing the spec as a single-view spec would make it easier to add selections and conditional-encodings using {vlbuildr}.

As a first step, we should settle on the API (name of the argument and its default value). As a first proposal:

as.vegaspec.gg <- function(spec, single_view = FALSE, ...)
