I have a gatsby project I'm deploying to vercel. Was easy to deploy and works great. I'm trying to setup a staging.mydomain.com subdomain to point at my staging deployments. I've got this domain pointed at Vercel but I can't figure out how to make it point at an environment/deployment.
"Staging" for me means I either run npm run build:staging or just specify an environment variable at build time (e.g. vercel --build-env SHOW_DRAFTS=true). I've got this working and can even make these staging deployments to Vercel, but I can't figure out how to connect the staging subdomain to these deployments. If I add --target, e.g. vercel --build-env SHOW_DRAFTS=true --target staging, it says in Vercel that I deployed to "staging" but I don't see what difference that makes. Also it looks like --target isn't documented anymore.
In an ideal world the staging environment would always pull updates to the git repo (just like prod does) and build with a different environment, but I'm flexible and would be okay with staging requiring manual deploys.
Is it possible to create a staging environment with a custom domain and then deploy to it WITHOUT using git branches?
