The mute and volume-slider does nothing on ios5. I can play/pause and skip forward on the timelime but pressing mute or trying to move the volume-slider doesn't not work.

I guess the standard way of changing volume is on the ipad/iphone hardware-buttons anyway.. but when I change there, the volume slider doesn't follow.

Maybe mute/volume should be hidden by default on ipad/iphone since they don't do anything but confusing the watcher.

Same but is present in Chrome on Nexus 7.

It seems like at least on iOS volume setting via JS is disabled by design: http://blog.millermedeiros.com/unsolved-html5-video-issues-on-ios/

It would be nice if video.js automatically hid the volume/mute controls for iOS and Chrome/Android users as they are not operational.

This looks like a dupe of #336 (albeit filed way before it). Should be fixed now.
