When I try using this I get an error, is there a different way it needs to be done with newer versions of snmp?

[root@localhost snmp]# snmpd -f -Lo -Ducd-snmp/pass
registered debug token ucd-snmp/pass, 1
NET-SNMP version 5.5
Connection from UDP: [127.0.0.1]:41796->[127.0.0.1]
ucd-snmp/pass_persist: open_persist_pipe(1,'./ethtool-stats.pl')
ucd-snmp/pass_persist: open_persist_pipe: PONG not received!

It's unlikely that anything changed from the NetSNMP side. You can try to run ethtool-stats.pl by hand. Then write PING and you should get PONG. Does it work?
