This issue isn't fixed as stated in issue #18 which is closed.
If I set PATH in a command window to include Graphviz/bin to avoid cluttering up the PATH variable for my user/system it doesn't start. Adding it to PATH variable either locally in that prompt or globally should not really matter in my opinion.
BTW I'm using GraphViz 2.38.

I have the same issue as well. I had installed the GraphViz 2.38 in Program Files (x86) folder and defined the variable in Path, both for user and global, but the DotEditor installer doesn't recognize it.
Use the 32-Bit Version. The Problem here should be related to WoW64. You probably would have to copy the entire GraphViz to somewhere there. Since GraphViz Applications are called as such and not via programing interface, i guess the 32-Bit GrphViz does not need to be a 64 Bit Version.
